First Annual "A Taste of Life NYC™"

On Friday, October 22, 2010, the First Annual "A Taste of Life NYC™" was held at The Riverside Church, 490 Riverside Drive, New York, NY. The event, a fundraiser to benefit Alpha II Omega Youth Services, featured a tasting of healthy foods choices provided by chefs and restaurants from the NYC metropolitan area.

As the musical entertainment, Ron Grant & Friends set the perfect mood for the event - bringing the guests to their feet and receiving numerous rounds of applause throughout the evening.

Ron Grant

An accomplished vocalist, Ron Grant has toured internationally, recorded jingles for major companies i.e. AT&T, M&M, Pizza Hut and Frito Lay, recorded background vocals for Mariah Carey, Chaka Kahn, Bryan McKnight, Teena Marie, The Temptations and TheNotorious B.I.G. among many others, and has appeared on The Today Show, The Phil Donahue Show, The Bobby Jones Gospel Hour and the Martin Luther King Jr. television special.

Ron’s passion for music is also exemplified in his work as the musical director and organist for the Church Of Christ Disciples and as a Senior Executive at Sony Music where he is charged with the task of finding, nurturing and promoting new talent. It is this passion that Ron brings to the Village Underground every Sunday night with Ron Grant & Friends Open Mic - placing it in a class by itself.

Alpha II Omega Youth Services

Found in 2004 by Dwayne Cumberbatch, Alpha II Omega Youth Services is a 501c3 organization that was established to create, manage, and implement programs for elementary through high school students in the areas of health, sports, community awareness, and public opinion. These programs help youth to develop important skills needed as they move into the career world and become productive members of the community.

Keeping it Healthy with Lazarus Lynch

Lazarus Lynch is a teenage aspiring chef whose goal is to bridge the gap between youth and healthy food. He would like to show them how they can simplify cooking their favorite food cuisines by sharing a variety of easy international dishes from all across the world.

Lazarus is currently a junior at Food and Finance High School in New York City and has been helping raise awareness amongst youth by sharing lots of healthy tips, ideas, original recipes and knowledge of cooking healthy food. His passion is to show young people that eating, cooking and living heathfully are attainable and easy!
